Meet Sandra, a Dedicated Cat Rescue Volunteer Who Doesn't Let Arthritis Pain Slow Her Down
Thermotex recently caught up with Sandra, and it’s our honour to share her story. Pain and arthritis have been a part of Sandra’s life for quite some time. She’s learned to manage it with a variety of treatment methods (including Thermotex’s far infrared heat), not to mention determination, perspective and positivity. Sandra is also a dedicated volunteer with Regina Cat Rescue (an organization we were proud to support through our initiative with @roxythe_kitty). Thank you for sharing your experience, Sandra!
Tell us a little about yourself and about your journey with pain?
I hurt my back over 40 years ago in a gym class. I was quite young and the standard of care was to immobilize my back for a few weeks and consider it healed. It took about 20 years of wear and tear but that treatment eventually came back and bit me. I have developed what my doctor has called “fairly severe” arthritis in my lower back and I do have some mobility challenges. I also volunteer with a cat rescue group and when we are trying to get kittens out from under a porch or a deck, I tend to push my back harder than I should because you only get one chance to get them.
I also spend several hours in my vehicle driving from Regina to Sherwood Park and Edson at least 3 or 4 times per year as I have friends and family there. I NEVER leave home without the Thermotex. I use it while driving, and it makes the very long road trip so much more pleasant, and when I get there I’m not totally wrecked by anywhere between 8 and 11 hours in a car.
Did you try any other pain management or treatment methods before Thermotex?
I don’t like to take pills, so I very much rely on my chiropractor and massage therapist. I’ve also done physio and exercise therapy and use ice/heat as well. They all work and my Thermotex heating pad really helps as well. Medication is always a last resort and I don’t resort to it very often.
How did you hear about Thermotex?
I actually saw Thermotex on the Shopping Channel when it was the Showstopper. I ordered it and it ended up being a very good investment.
What Thermotex system are you using to manage your pain/symptoms?

When did you start to notice changes?
I’ve been using the heating pad for years. I can’t really recall when I first started to notice but can say I still use it years later, and the reason I use it is because it works.
How else do you incorporate pain management into your life?
I walk a fair bit because movement helps and very regularly visit the chiropractor and my massage therapist. Being a bit on the stubborn side and refusing to give in helps as well.
What were the most significant changes in your life as a result of Thermotex?
Mobility and pain management without medications.
Where are you now in your treatment journey?
I am in a pretty good spot. I’ve learned to deal with my challenges and they don’t define me.
